PALS Program

Proficient and Accelerated Learning Students

Criteria and Qualification for the PALS Program:

The LEAP Lab is also a place for the PALS program.

These higher achieving students receive additional enrichment throughout the school year to continue challenging them and to ensure that they are learning at an appropriate pace.

Students qualify for this program through test scores and teacher input. Starting during the 2018-19 school year, 2nd graders will all take the CogAT test which estimates students' learned reasoning and problem solving abilities through a battery of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal test items.

Students in 3rd-6th grades are chosen for the PALS program by a committee that takes into consideration CogAt scores as well as teacher input.

3rd and 4th grade PALS students meet 4 times per week for 40 minutes each session, and 5th and 6th graders meet each day for 40 minutes.

"Children who are not challenged are cheated."
